Karen S. Pittman, Artist
“As an artist, my passion is to use color, shape, value and texture to share the beauty of the world around me.”
From Childhood, I was driven to create, be it with a pencil or paintbrush, although there was no formal Art training until attending Ferrum College. I obtained an Associate’s degree in Fine Art, and a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design.
I studied art under then Blue Ridge Regional Watercolor artist, Ernest Johnson, Richmond Watercolor Master Robert Carter and Award winning regional Artist Jane Duncan Stogner. Attending Art of the Carolina’s in Raleigh NC I studied under nationally known Artists Robert Burridge, Lisa Boardwine, Kimberly Maselli, Sterling Edwards and Tom Lynch. I studied Plen Aire techniques with Joseph Gyurcsak in 2023 and have taken several VFMA classes in color and portraiture.
With each class, I have gained a valuable perspective on painting, and I love learning new techniques.
